Senior Piano Teacher
Robyn Tan is a recent graduate from Northwestern State University. A student of Dr. Francis Yang, Robyn earned her Master of Music degree and her Bachelor in Music degree, both in piano performance, from the School of Creative and Performing Arts, She was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship at NSU where she taught group piano from 2016-2018. In Spring 2019, she served as an Adjunct Instructor at NSU.
Robyn have been a studio piano teacher for over 10 years. Besides teaching in Singapore, she also had the opportunity to teach at the NSU Music Academy while she was studying at Northwestern State University for her Bachelor and Master.
During her time as a student, Robyn accompanied various student juries, recitals, choral groups, and orchestral performances. In 2019, she was hired to be an adjunct collaborative pianist at NSU. Robyn was also a choral pianist for a semi-professional choral group (Red River Chorale) during their Spring 2019 season. Since November 2018, she was also a church pianist for the First Presbyterian Church of Alexandria, Louisiana.
Robyn completed her ABRSM (Association of the Royal Schools of Music) grade 8 practical and theory in 2003 and 2005 respectively. She has also attained Associate Performer Diploma in Classical Pianoforte from ANZCA (Australia and New Zealand Cultural Arts) in 2008. In the following year, Robyn passed Dip AB Performance (Diploma in Piano Performance from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music) with high marks.
Robyn also took part in many Master Lessons conducted by Mr. Ong Lip Tat, Dr. Felix Chang, Dr. Francis Yang and Mr. Stephen Amma, Dr. Koji Atwood, Dr. Hsieh Cheng-feng, Dr. Scott Holden, Dr. Andrew Cooperstock, Dr. Alvin Chow, Dr. Lina Morita, Mr. Artur Pizzaro, Dr. Christopher Bowlby, Dr. Rob Watson, and Dr. Nanette Kaplan Solomon,
Robyn served as the President of the Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Chapter at NSU. She also presented at the 2016 National MTNA Collegiate Member/Young Professional Reception held in Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition, Ms. Tan holds a BSc in Banking and Finance from the University of London and an ABRSM violin grade 8 certificate.
